The courtyard of Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) was alive on the weekend, with 1000 members of the public at the site in Murdoch to attend the annual community information event.

The event, which featured stands dedicated to precinct planning, employment and clinical commissioning, was a huge success and really showcased the ongoing relationship between FSH and the local community. It also gave the community a chance to view floor plans and photographs prior to the hospital commencing operations in 2014.

Visitors attended the event between 11am-3pm and were able to speak directly with senior project staff involved in planning and commissioning the hospital. The event was supported by a range of volunteers both from within the project and supporting agencies, including the 1st Waylen Bay Scout Group from Leeming. There was also an opportunity for visitors to enjoy the landscaped courtyard of the main hospital, which looks on to the central concourse, comprehensive cancer centre and ward towers.

Brad Sebbes, Executive Director of FSH, said it was great to see such interest from the local community.

"Each year we have seen a steady growth in people attending this event and I think that the success of the event on Saturday really shows how significant this hospital will be to the people of Western Australia." Mr Sebbes said.

"Visitors seemed to really enjoy the opportunity to speak to our project team about the clinical flow of the hospital and employment opportunities at FSH, and it was great to see so many people enjoying sitting in the courtyard.

"We are really proud to be able to show the community the great progress that is going on at FSH and I look forward to providing ongoing updates to the public throughout 2013," he said.

Fiona Stanley Hospital is scheduled to open in April 2014 as part of a phased commissioning process. For more information on FSH, visit our website regularly and sign up to our newsletter.
