Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) staff have united to share the festive spirit with patients, families and visitors through the hospital’s inaugural Christmas decorations competition.

Ward and visitor areas have been decorated as teams sought to outdo each other to claim the prize for the best dressed area.

FSH Executive Director Paul Forden said the aim was to bring the Christmas cheer into the hospital and to celebrate with our patients and visitors.

“We want to put a smile on the faces of patients and visitors who may have to spend Christmas at the hospital,” Mr Forden said.

“Each area was judged according to a set of criteria including creativity, team effort and the use of recyclable materials.”

The winning area was Radiation Oncology and the runner-up was Ward B in the State Rehabilitation Service.

The Christmas decorations will be on display until 2 January 2017.

Hospital staff also took the opportunity to join the fight against hunger this Christmas by partnering with Foodbank WA in their annual festive food appeal.

Seven collection boxes filled with non-perishable food items were donated by staff, patients and visitors across a four week period.

The food items will be distributed by Foodbank WA to individuals and families during the festive season.
