Midwives at Fiona Stanley Hospital have been celebrating the birth of little Leya Ng – the 10 000th baby delivered since the hospital opened.

Leya was born on 19 July with her parents Katherine Soh and Norman Ng delighted to find out their baby was part of this special milestone.

“This is our first child born in Australia, as our older two were born in Singapore, so it’s so special to me,” Katherine said.

“I still cannot believe she is the 10,000th baby born here.”

Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospitals Group Executive Director Janet Zagari said it was an exciting achievement for the midwives and staff at the hospital.

“It shows how busy our maternity staff have been since the service opened in November 2014. They have helped to deliver almost 230 babies a month,” she said.

“It truly is a privilege to bring so many new Western Australians into the world at Fiona Stanley Hospital.”
