  • Measles cluster in Perth metropolitan area - update #6

    There have now been 22 confirmed measles cases since mid-September. One of the latest cases was at a mine site in the Pilbara, following the patient being exposed to measles in the Rockingham region. Upon presenting for medical attention at the mine site, the patient was quickly isolated and transferred to hospital. The mine site has issued information to its staff.

    A special service to honour the lives of Western Australian babies lost during pregnancy or birth was held today at King Edward Memorial Hospital.
  • New case of meningococcal disease

    The Department of Health is today reporting that an adult is currently recovering after being diagnosed with meningococcal serogroup Y disease. This brings the number of reported cases of invasive meningococcal disease in 2019 to 19. Of the 19 cases, six have been serogroup B, six serogroup W, five serogroup C and two serogroup Y meningococcal infections.
