We offer a comprehensive range of adult and paediatric clinical services, including the State Burns Service and State Rehabilitation Service, and provide excellent educational and skill development opportunities for doctors of all levels.
A wide range of specialty placements are available for Interns, Resident Medical Officers and Registrars located both on-site and at our peripheral rotational hospitals. These include:

Interns
Intern applications for 2020 clinical year (6 January 2020 to 10 January 2021):

As an intern with FSH, you will be assigned to a block allocation consisting of five, 10-11 week rotations which include a mandatory rotation of 10 weeks in both a core medicine and surgery department, and a minimum of eight weeks in emergency medicine. This will ensure that you meet Medical Board of Australia requirements for General Registration. Preference for multiple rotations at peripheral and rural sites will be taken into consideration, with a minimum of one rotation to be completed at Fiona Stanley Hospital.
Specialty rotations that are available to interns through FSH include, but are not limited to:

- general and acute medicine
- general surgical (including colorectal, endocrine surgery, upper GI, and Acute Surgical Unit – ASU)

- vascular.
Part-time positions may be available through FSH. Please note that these are dependent on the service delivery requirements of each specialty and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. They may or may not include shift work, on-call, weekend and after-hours duties.

Resident Medical Officers (RMO)

RMO positions are available to medical practitioners who have completed their internship or overseas equivalent and are eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as per the professional registration requirements outlined below.

Registrars
Registrar applications for 2021 clinical year
Registrar applications for 2021 clinical year (1 February 2021 to 30 January 2022) are as follows:
- applications for Senior Registrars and Fellows:
- open on 20 May 2020
- close on 16 June 2020
- applications for Service and Advanced Trainee Registrars:
- open on 2 June 2020
- close on 30 June 2020.

Rotations can be on site at FSH but can include rotations at various metropolitan, outer metropolitan and regional/rural hospitals in Western Australia.
Registrar positions are available to Medical Practitioners with appropriate qualifications and experience and are eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as per professional registration requirements.
Advanced Training positions may require an application to be submitted to the relevant college in addition to the application to the hospital. Please ensure you have checked the relevant college application requirements and closing dates.
