Keeping you COVID-19 safe for booked maternity assessments and procedures

All patients attending Fiona Stanley Hospital for planned maternity assessments and procedures, and any accompanying approved essential visitor, will need to complete a rapid antigen test (RAT) when arriving at the hospital.

Essential information you need to know before you arrive

Contact the Maternal Fetal Assessment Unit on 6152 4301 before your admission if you are:

  • unwell with COVID-19 type symptoms
  • a person who received a positive swab result within the last two weeks
  • a close contact of a confirmed COVID-19 case
  • under quarantine or self-isolation.

Bring your appointment letter or text with you. This will help our staff direct you after your RAT screening.

Your essential visitor will need to bring their proof of vaccination. They will also undergo RAT screening.

Pre-admission RAT screening is conducted at the COVID Clinic – see the map (PDF 88KB). Please go directly to the blue kiosk and line up for pre-admission RAT screening. The kiosk will open at 6am so please don’t arrive too early.

If you have symptoms or have answered yes to one of the screening questions, you may be asked to wait in the RAT& screening area until your result is ready.

Following your RAT, you will proceed directly to the location detailed in your appointment letter or email. Please do not visit any other areas within the hospital.

If your RAT result is positive for COVID-19, your treating team will determine if you need your appointment or procedure with additional precautions.

If your approved essential visitor tests positive for COVID-19 this may also result in your plan of care being rescheduled. Again, your treating team will determine the next steps in your care.

If your appointment or procedure is to be postponed, you will need to have PCR test (Healthy WA)and then immediately return home and isolate as per the current COVID guidelines for WA.

Please be assured if we need to postpone your procedure or appointment your treating team will ensure your pregnancy care is well planned and all of the required procedure are attended to.
