The Department of Health has reported no new local cases of COVID-19 overnight in the community.
WA Health is reporting two new cases of COVID-19 overnight.
A male in his 50s in hotel quarantine, who tested positive after returning from overseas travel.
The other is a male in his 40s, a resident of WA who was a close contact of a case now in Victoria, as announced late yesterday. He is now also in hotel quarantine and is assisting contact tracers with their work.
The State’s total number now stands at 986.
WA Health is monitoring 31 active cases of COVID-19 and 946 people have recovered from the virus in WA.
To date, the WA Department of Health has administered 87,971 COVID-19 vaccinations, including 20,968 people who have received both doses. Yesterday, 316 people were vaccinated.

Yesterday, 4,249 were tested at WA Health COVID clinics. In addition, 7,610 people were also tested at private pathology clinics.
There have been 999,110 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 137,622 were from regional WA.
To date, 62 cases of variant strains of concern have been detected in Western Australia – including 46 of the B.1.1.7 strain, 15 of the B.1.351 strain and one of the P1 variant (Brazilian variant).

Note: The cases of variant strains reported above are not new cases. Genome sequencing – to define the strain of the virus – is a separate laboratory process carried out after someone tests positive to COVID-19. All cases, regardless of strain, are managed by WA’s public health experts. The strains previously reported as the UK variant strain and South African variant strain will now be referred to as B.1.1.7 and B.1.351 respectively.
