The Ministerial Expert Panel on Voluntary Assisted Dying consultations were held from 19 March to 24 May 2019.

Voluntary assisted dying submissions

As part of its consultations, the Ministerial Expert Panel received a total of 541 submissions.  Submissions were received via online, email and mail formats, from both individuals and organisations.

As outlined in the Discussion Paper, the website and the online survey, these submissions were to be published on the website unless the submitter requested confidentiality.

The views expressed in the responses are those of the individuals or organisations who submitted them and their publication does not imply any acceptance of, or agreement with, these views by the Department of Health (the Department).

The submissions have been published subject to the Freedom of Information Act 1992. The Department retains the right not to publish responses at its discretion, and will not place on the website, or make available to the public, content or responses that contain inappropriate material.

Before publication, the Department will remove personally identifying information from responses for privacy (such as addresses, email addresses and telephone numbers).
