Approving Equivalence of Alternative Techniques Procedures Relating to AS 4696:2007

The Department of Health has developed a number of documents associated with the implementation of Food Unit Notice 18.01 – Australian Standard Alternative Equivalent Procedures (PDF 247 KB).

The table below provides a brief overview of the associated documents, intended to be used by enforcement agencies, food businesses and Meat Inspectors.

Food Unit Notice 18.01 – Australian Standard Alternative Equivalent Procedures (PDF 247 KB) The Food Unit Notice has been issued to assist the controlling authority, relevant enforcement agencies, food businesses and meat inspectors with implementing the changes to meat inspection set out in AS 4696:2007.  
The Australian Meat Regulators Group (AMRG) has developed “Guideline 2019:1 – Post Mortem Meat Inspection - Alternative Techniques to Schedule 2 of AS 4696:2007” (PDF 369 KB) (Guideline). The Guideline is an attachment to and is to be read in conjunction with the Food Unit Notice.
