Congratulations to the Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) Volunteer Service for being awarded the 2021 Health Consumer Excellence Awards’ Care Opinion Award.

This award is for Health Service Providers who deliver the highest level of compassionate care and best practise according to patient feedback on the Care Opinion website (external link).

The FSH Volunteer Service was recognised for consistently going above and beyond for the patient experience. From the moment patients and their families walk through the hospital doors, our volunteers are there to answer all of their questions and support them with whatever they may need.

David Tomlinson, Manager Volunteer Services Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospital Group (FSFHG) believes this award is a great reminder of the integral role our volunteers play in the excellent health care South Metropolitan Health Service provides.

"Our volunteer service is made up of an incredibly diverse, caring and inspiring group of individuals. What makes our team stand out is that we don’t have roles for volunteers to fill; we create each role around the volunteer, David said.

"FSFHG is always looking for both general and specialist volunteers to share their kindness, skills and smiles to help improve the experience of our patients."

General volunteers perform a variety of services designed to support patients during their time in hospital, while specialist volunteers provide services or activities based on their particular skills.

Volunteers can choose the frequency and timing of their volunteering commitment.
