A new partnership between the FSH Neonatal Unit and the Boronia Pre-Release Women’s Centre in Bentley recently saw the ward receive a bundle of hand-sewn items.

The bundle of donated items included incubator covers, quilts and developmental aids which are used on a regular basis throughout the ward to aid in the growth and development of our neonates.

Clinical Nurse Specialist Vini Brehaut said the support was welcomed with open arms as it had been hard to find volunteers to create these highly sought-after items.

"The sewn items play an important role in the development and growth of sick and pre-term babies,” Vini said.

"This new partnership also provides the women of Boronia an opportunity to play an active role in our community.”

The sewing is part of a larger volunteer program run by Boronia, teaching the women about the importance of volunteer work and how to continue community activities once they have been reintegrated into society.
