Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospitals Group (FSFHG) has been recognised for demonstrating leadership in workplace health and wellbeing.

FSFHG is the first hospital group in WA to receive silver status in the Recognised Healthy Workplace (RHW) program, an initiative of Healthier Workplace WA.

Through the Staff Wellness Committee, FSFHG has developed strategies and policies to address lifestyle factors such as smoking, healthy eating, alcohol and physical activity.

FSFHG was highly commended for supporting staff who wish to quit smoking and providing staff with more opportunities to take part in physical activity before, during and after work.

FSFHG Executive Director Janet Zagari was thrilled to receive a silver recognition.

“Good health and wellbeing depends on a number of factors, and the environment in which we work is an important one,” Janet said.

“The Staff Wellness Committee has been fundamental in developing a comprehensive strategy around policy, environment and education for our staff.

“We encourage all our staff to be health conscious so it’s important we facilitate a supportive and healthy working environment.”

Established in 2016, the Staff Wellness Committee has 30 staff members from both hospital sites.

Healthier Workplace WA is provided by the Heart Foundation WA in conjunction with Cancer Council WA in partnership with the State Government through the Department of Health.
