The Gastroenterology Department at Fiona Stanley Hospital provides outpatient and inpatient clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic services including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), enteroscopy and endoscopic ultrasound. Specialised services are provided for endoscopic mucosal resection, treatment of Barrett’s oesophagus, stenting of neoplastic disease and insertion of percutaneous gastrostomy tubes.
We provide direct inpatient care for patients in a ward environment including management of haematemesis and melaena according to a specific clinical pathway.
We provide consultant-led general gastroenterology outpatient clinics with additional speciality clinics in interventional endoscopy, intestinal failure, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), hepatology and viral hepatitis (in conjunction with the Infectious Diseases). We also provide a limited number of nurse-led clinics.
A centralised waitlist for endoscopic procedures in the South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) (external site) ensures the timely delivery of endoscopic services. Low complexity endoscopy services are provided at Fremantle Hospital (external site).
