Academy kudos for FSH consultant
Prof Christobel Saunders with Academy President Prof Ian Frazer
Congratulations to FSH Consultant Professor Christobel Saunders, who, along with Professor Graeme Hankey, has been inducted as Fellows of the prestigious Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences.
They were the only Western Australians among 50 Fellows newly elected to the Academy.
The Academy was established in 2013 to provide an impartial and authoritative voice for healthcare, drawing on the best available evidence coupled with expert advice from the nation’s foremost health and medical figures.
As well as her FSH role, Prof Saunders is head of breast services at Royal Perth Hospital.
Prof Hankey is a consultant neurologist at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.
The pair is now among the Academy’s 272-strong fellowship which includes other eminent scientists and clinicians including IVF pioneer Professor Alan Trounson and Australia’s recently retired Chief Medical Officer, Professor Christopher Baggoley.
The Academy’s president, Professor Ian Frazer, said the new Fellows’ election to the Academy would help the Academy to promote use of the best research-informed health care for all Australians.
